Writing with AI

AI can help you write stories, poems, jokes, and more. Here is how to use it as a creative tool — while keeping your own ideas at the centre.

AI as a writing helper

Think of AI as a creative partner, not a shortcut. The best way to use AI for writing is to:

• Start with your own idea. What is your story about? Who are the characters? What happens?
• Use AI to get unstuck. If you do not know what happens next, ask the AI for three possible ideas — then pick or mix the ones you like.
• Ask AI to help with specific bits. "Help me write a funnier ending" or "describe what the cave looks like" — use AI for parts you are struggling with.
• Always rewrite in your own words. Your writing should sound like you, not like a robot!

Some fun things to try

• Ask AI to continue a story you started
• Ask AI to write a poem about your pet or your favourite thing
• Tell AI to write a joke and then explain why it is (or is not) funny
• Ask AI to write the same scene in three different styles
